‘Til Your River Runs Dry

‘Til Your River Runs Dry (CD) & (Vinyl), Eric Burdon‘s most personal album to date, features original tracks written by Burdon including “Water”, “Bo Diddley Special”, “The River Is Rising”, “Wait” and “Memorial Day” with a blues-rooted feel that has made him one of the most enduring artists spawned by the British Invasion of the 1960s. ‘Til Your River Runs Dry was produced by Burdon and Tony Barnacle and recorded in New Orleans and Southern California where Eric recorded his last two albums. ‘Til Your River Runs Dry is the long-awaited return of one of rock’s most creative, incisive songwriters and, certainly, an unparalleled vocal force.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 Greatest Voices of All Time, Eric Burdon continues as a vital contemporary artist while his legacy as frontman of The Animals, with WAR at its inception and as a solo artist continues to grow as his influence enjoys a resurgence with both new artists and superstars.

‘Til Your River Runs Dry is available in CD, LP, and for Digital download.

El Topo (Original Motion Picture Score) (Vinyl)

Championed by everybody from John Lennon to Peter Gabriel and decried by “Establishment” critics ranging from Vincent Canby to Gene Siskel El Topo remains one of the controversial movies ever made. Director Alejandro Jodorowsky’s bizarre, blood-soaked blend of spaghetti Western, druggy surrealism, Christian allegory, Zen Buddhist themes and avant-garde sensibilities gave rise to the entire “Midnight Movie” counterculture phenomenon of the early ’70s and forever changed the way adventurous audiences viewed film. Or, for that matter, heard film; for no soundtrack, before or since, has embraced so many styles in its pursuit of spiritual and artistic goals. Atonal, Tibetan Buddhist thighbone trumpets clash with beautiful, even sentimental, chamber orchestra pieces alongside pan flute rhapsodies, brass bands and parlor jazz; that Jodorowsky himself composed the score after, no doubt, intently studying the work of Morricone–is almost as impressive an artistic achievement as the film itself.

Now, Real Gone Music, in partnership with ABKCO Music & Records, is issuing this one-of-a-kind soundtrack album as a stand-alone compact disc for the first time since the original release produced by Allan Steckler for Apple Records back in 1971. What s more, the design elements of the original packaging, including the four-page booklet boasting some of the film s hallucinogenic imagery and the gatefold album art, will be incorporated into the design of the CD booklet, which will also include liner notes by Jodorowsky expert Klaus Biesenbach, current Director of MoMA PS 1 in Queens, NYC. Mastered by Joe Yannece at Classic Sound in New York, and produced for reissue by ABKCO’s in-house Engineer Teri Landi and Mick Gochanour, with tape transfers by Landi, Real Gone/ABKCO’s release of El Topo on CD fully captures Jodorowsky’s singular sonic vision.

Charlie is my Darling – Ireland 1965 (Box Set)

ABKCO Films presents a meticulously restored and fully-realized version of this first-ever, legendary, but never released film. Shot during a quick tour of Ireland just weeks after (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction hit # 1 on the charts, The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling – Ireland 1965 is an intimate, behind-the-scenes diary of life on the road with the young Stones. It features the first professionally filmed concert performances of the band and documents the early frenzy of their fans and the riots the band s appearances inspired. The band is shown traveling through the Irish countryside by train; dashing from cabs to cramped, basement dressing rooms through screaming hordes of fans. Motel rooms host impromptu songwriting sessions and familiar classics are heard in their infancy as riff and lyric are united. Charlie is my Darling is the invaluable frame that captures the spark about to combust into The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World.

The Rolling Stones Charlie is my Darling – Ireland 1965 Super Deluxe Box Set includes both DVD and Blu-ray discs that incorporate the new 2012 version of the film as well as the director s cut and producer s cut, plus significant unseen additional performance and other footage shot in Dublin and Belfast in September of 1965, bonus content, two audio CDs, one of which is the film s soundtrack album and the other a compilation of 13 live recordings the band made over the course of their 1965 UK tour. A 10 inch vinyl record of the live material is also part of the package, as well as a replica poster heralding the September 4, 1965 date they played in Belfast. The Super Deluxe box is housed in an ingeniously designed luxurious soft touch package, each featuring one of over 200 Limited Edition numbered and enlarged cells randomly inserted from the film. There is also a stunning 42 page Collector s Edition hardcover book that includes 14 never before seen, and painstakingly restored exclusive photographs, including the key art, of the band from the Irish Photo Archive/Lensmen Photo Archive as well as color photos taken by Marc Sharatt, the Stones tour photographer. Reprints of vintage newspaper and magazine articles from the UK and Irish press that offer accounts of the dates and attendant mayhem are included as are essays from American rock journalist and Rolling Stone Magazine staffer David Fricke and GRAMMY and Academy Award winning Irish singer/songwriter/actor Glen Hansard. A featured recollection from Reverend Donor Macneice, who was recently located living in Thailand and whose attendance at the ’65 Belfast show nearly cost him his job after he was spotted on the local news is also part of the package.

Moonrise Kingdom (Original Soundtrack)

Following the much acclaimed-animated feature FANTASTIC MR. FOX, Wes Anderson returns to live-action filmmaking with MOONRISE KINGDOM. Set amongst the widow’s walks and Yankee traditions of 1965 New England, Anderson and co-screenwriter Roman Coppola create an incomparable tale of romance between rogue Khaki Scout Sam and the beautiful and troubled Suzy.

Grounded in the elegiac compositions of classical composer Benjamin Britten, whose majestic choral NOYES FLUDDE ignites the film’s young lovers, MOONRISE KINGDOM features masterworks performed by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic as well as popular gems performed by French chanteuse Françoise Hardy and the legendary country troubadour Hank Williams.

As in all of Anderson’s previous films, music is an essential element and once again it is used to masterful effect. MOONRISE KINGDOM includes an original suite by renowned film composer Alexandre Desplat as well as percussion compositions by longtime Anderson collaborator and Devo co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh. This soundtrack promises to be one of this year’s most interesting and compelling releases.
